The Soil Requirement
Blueberries require soil pH between 4.5 and 5.5 β significantly more acidic than most Australian garden soils and far more acidic than most vegetables prefer. This requirement is non-negotiable: blueberries planted in neutral or alkaline soil develop chlorosis (yellowing leaves from iron deficiency), produce poorly, and gradually die. Testing your soil pH before planting is the most important first step.
