Full Review
Every van lifer with a two-burner camp stove still has a use for the MSR Pocket Rocket 2. It is the stove that goes in your daypack for hikes, the backup when your main stove's igniter fails, and the solution for making coffee outside the van without getting the big stove out.
73 Grams
The Pocket Rocket 2 weighs 73 grams and packs down to roughly the size of a matchbox. Combined with a 110g isobutane canister (the smallest size available), you have a complete cooking system weighing under 200g that fits in a jacket pocket. This packability is the entire value proposition — not a replacement for a serious camp stove, but a tool no van lifer should be without.
Compatible Canisters in Australia
The Pocket Rocket uses standard Lindal-valve isobutane canisters. MSR, Snow Peak, and Coleman canisters are all compatible. Available at BCF, Anaconda, and most outdoor stores across Australia. The 110g canister provides approximately 60 minutes of cooking — 6–8 meals.
